How to Vote by Mail (Absentee)

All registered voters in Nelson County can vote by mail, also called absentee voting. You can ask to get your ballot in the mail for the next election, or for all future elections.

You can request an absentee ballot for by filling out an application. For the June 20, 2022 Democratic Party Primary Election, you have until Friday, June 9, 2023 to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you. Requests must be received by the local voter registration office by 5:00 p.m.

Complete and Send in Your Ballot

We’ll send you an absentee ballot in the mail with a return envelope. You have two options to return it for the June 20, 2023 Democratic Party Primary Election:

  • The ballot must be postmarked by June 20, 2023 and received by noon on Friday, June 23, 2023.
  • Deliver it in person to the Registrar’s Office by 7:00 p.m. June 20, 2023or to any polling place on election day. Dropboxes are available in the Registrar’s Office and each precinct on Election Day.
