How to Vote by Mail (Absentee)
All registered voters in Nelson County can vote by mail, also called absentee voting. You can ask to get your ballot in the mail for the next election, or for all future elections.

You can request an absentee ballot for the 2023 November General by filling out an application. For the November 7, 2023 General Election, you have until Friday, October 27, 2023 to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you. Requests must be received by the local voter registration office by 5:00 p.m.

Complete and Send in Your Ballot
We’ll send you an absentee ballot in the mail with a return envelope. You have two options to return it for the November 7, 2023 General Election:
- The ballot must be postmarked by November 7, 2023 and received by noon on Monday, November 13, 2023.
- Deliver it in person to the Registrar’s Office by 7:00 p.m. November 7, 2023 or to any polling place on Election Day. Dropboxes are available in the Registrar’s Office and each precinct on Election Day.
